Delmarva Gets 1-0 Win
|
The Delmarva Shorebirds picked up a win at Appalachian Power Park, downing the West Virginia Power, 1-0. On the mound for Delmarva was right-hander Alfredo González, who played a pivotal role in the win. González picked up the win for Delmarva, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 4-2. Picking up his 1st save was fireballing right-hander José Bustamante.
The Shorebirds got a big at-bat from third baseman Walt Ellis. For the game, Ellis went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. In the top of the first, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave Delmarva a 1-0 lead.
"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said West Virginia manager German Melendez.
The first-place Shorebirds have won 4 straight.
