Hammers 8-2 Victors Over Lexington
The Rome Hammers and starting pitcher Jesús Martínez stifled the Lexington offense en route to a comfortable 8-2 win at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Martínez got the win, improving to 3-2. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The victory gives the Hammers a record of 18-13.

Rome used a clutch at-bat from Dan Hill to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Hammers ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Jesús's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Rome manager Aaron Holbert.
