Ward Delivers Walk-Off Win for Shorebirds
The Delmarva Shorebirds took Savannah pitcher Duane Turner's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The final score had Delmarva getting past the Sand Gnats, 1-0. Turner went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 3. The winner was Delmarva reliever Jesús De Jesús, now 3-0. The loser was Luis Lucero. Delmarva has run its win streak to 6 straight.

The decisive blow was delivered by Chuck Ward in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Luis Lucero to win the game for Delmarva. The home crowd went nuts.

Ward attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
