Crawdads Deal Tourists 7-4 Defeat
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Hickory-Asheville ballgame.
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Juan Reyes, the Asheville Tourists lost to the Hickory Crawdads, 7-4. Reyes was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Dave Rankin, the winner, is now 3-1. He struck out 6 and walked 2 over 5.1 innings, while allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Earning his 7th save of the year was Rob Kennedy.
The Crawdads got a big hit from second baseman Arturo Reyes. Facing Asheville pitcher Josh Cooper in the top of the fifth, Reyes pounded a 3-run home run to center. His 2nd home run of the season put the Crawdads ahead, 7-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Reyes. "And not try to do too much."
The win elevated the Crawdads to 19-18.
