Drive Trip Sand Gnats, 5-2
|
The Greenville Drive got a marvelous performance from pitcher Alan Avery. The right-hander kept the Savannah offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-2 Greenville victory at Grayson Stadium. Alan Avery picked up the win in relief for Greenville, while Daniel Merced took the loss. Kevin MacMonies earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.
Greenville took a 5-1 lead on José Espinoza's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Espinoza hit in the top of the seventh, left Savannah pitcher Jerry Kahwagi visibly frustrated.
"We did enough to win," said Espinoza.
The Drive now have a record of 6-31.
