Greensboro Beats Augusta in Extra Innings
|
The Augusta GreenJackets wasted an impressive 6.1-inning effort from starter Héctor Rivera, falling, 1-0, to the Greensboro Grasshoppers at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Greensboro reliever Jim Scholz was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Pete Bryan took the loss. Ken Patrick earned the save for Greensboro.
Greensboro used the timely hitting of Juan Camacho to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Grasshoppers on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Camacho said.
The Grasshoppers improved their record to 25-13 by beating Augusta.
