|
Greenville wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Lonnie Williams, falling to the West Virginia Power, 8-6. Williams threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 run for the losing team. Rhett Fuller earned the save for West Virginia, his 5th of the year. West Virginia is now 19-22, while Greenville is 21-20.
West Virginia took the lead, 8-6, on Darren Wood's 2nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Greenville pitcher Bob Stewart in the bottom of the eighth.
"We got the victory," said Wood. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
