Tourists Popped by Drive, 6-3
|
Greenville picked up a win at Fluor Field at the West End, bumping off the Asheville Tourists, 6-3. Pitcher Alan Clark was a major reason the Drive emerged victorious. Keizo Murakami closed the game out for Greenville, earning his 19th save. The Drive bumped their record to 30-11 with this win.
Eric Preston had a big grand slam home run for the Drive in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Greenville leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Godwin and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Drive on top, 6-0.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Stan Bland.
