The Lexington Legends used a great performance from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Steve Maddox to beat the Rome Hammers, 2-1, at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Earning his 9th save of the year was Jack Masson. The victory puts Lexington at 15-27.

Randy Laidler hit a run-scoring double off Stephen Millar in the bottom of the third, which put the Legends in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Laidler had 2 singles, while going 3 for 3.

Laidler attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
