The Augusta GreenJackets could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Oscar Floyd into a win. Instead, the Savannah Sand Gnats prevailed, 5-3. Floyd threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Pat Manning, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Savannah is 26-16 and Augusta, with the loss, 18-24.

Tyrone Jackson delivered a big hit for Savannah. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sand Gnats ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Savannah manager Tyler Colvin.
