Shorebirds Get Clutch Win, 9-8
Arthur W. Perdue Stadium was the site of some high drama.

The Delmarva Shorebirds defeated the Hagerstown Suns, 9-8. Third Baseman Manny Salinas deserved a large share of the credit. Salinas was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Shorebirds. The winner in relief was Dominic McConnell. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings.

Delmarva got a clutch hit from Manny Zarate. The first baseman launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.

Zarate described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.

The last-place Suns have lost 6 straight games.
