Suns Overcome Gem from Velásquez, Pull Out Win
The Delmarva Shorebirds could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Iván Velásquez into a win. Instead, the Hagerstown Suns prevailed, 7-6. Velásquez came in in relief and pitched to 21 batters. The save went to Bob Johnson, his 5th this season. The win has Hagerstown at 10-35.

Hagerstown used a clutch at-bat from Gilberto Cardenas to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Suns ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Cardenas told reporters after the game: "Close wins always feel extra good."
