Late Rally by Drive Secures 5-1 Win
|
The Asheville Tourists could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Joe Scott into a win. Instead, the Greenville Drive prevailed, 5-1. Scott threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Greenville pitcher Augusto García got the win, upping his record to 3-5. Alan Parker got the loss. Kevin MacMonies picked up the save for Greenville, his 4th of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Greenville, had it not been for Mario Miranda, the 23-year old shortstop . Miranda contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Greenville up, 3-1.
"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Greenville manager Jason Wood.
Yes, it was a win for Greenville; but their 10-35 record is still nothing to boast about.
