The Lexington Legends got a stellar performance from pitcher Steve Maddox, who handcuffed the Greenville offense en route to a win, 6-2, at Fluor Field at the West End. The save was credited to Oscar Evans, his 2nd. With the win, Lexington has a record of 17-30. Greenville falls to 24-23.

Lexington relied on the hitting of Jon Bates to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Legends on top, 5-2. For the game, Bates had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Maddox. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
