With 5-3 Win, Sand Gnats Improve to 32-17
|
Savannah pitcher Steve Randolph had a large part in his team beating the Charleston RiverDogs, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Luis Lucero finished to wrap up his 14th save. The RiverDogs, now 25-24, have lost 4 in a row.
Kijuro Yamaguchi had a big 2-run double for the Sand Gnats in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Savannah leading 3-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Walt Holman and swatted a double to right. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sand Gnats ahead, 5-0.
"We take it day by day here," said Yamaguchi, "and today was a good one for us."
