Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Lakewood BlueClaws and West Virginia Power.

Getting an impressive start from Kevin Rodgers, Lakewood beat West Virginia by the score of 5-1. Rodgers, now 6-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Jeremy Jackson nailed down his 6th save.

Brad Penn had a big bases-clearing double for the BlueClaws in the bottom of the first inning. With Lakewood leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Artie Jones and swatted a double to center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the BlueClaws ahead, 4-0.

"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Penn told the Lakewood Chronicle.

The Power, now 23-27, have lost 5 in a row.
