Legends Deal Tourists 5-2 Loss
|
The Lexington Legends beat the Asheville Tourists, 5-2, at McCormick Field. The win was due in part to shortstop Jeff Thomas, who went 3-3 with 2 doubles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. Jack Masson notched his 12th save of the season. By defeating Asheville, the 6th-place Legends improved to 19-32.
Thomas had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a full count sinker from Greg Smith, he banged a run-scoring double to right-center, giving the Legends a 3-2 lead. It was the 4th double of the year for Thomas.
Lexington manager Brad Lincoln praised his team's "energy."
