4-0 Power Win over Drive Evens Season Record
|
The West Virginia Power went home winners at Fluor Field at the West End, thanks in large part to starter Alex West. West stifled the Greenville Drive, enabling West Virginia to grab the 4-0 win. West, now 7-3, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 12 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing no runs. With the win, West Virginia pushed its record to 26-26.
Joe Calderón, who is tied for 4th in the SAL in total bases with 82, had a direct impact on the outcome. Calderón contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the fourth inning to put West Virginia up, 2-0.
"Alex is good at sticking to his strengths," said West Virginia manager German Melendez.
