Kannapolis Upended by Delmarva, 6-2
|
The Delmarva Shorebirds beat the Kannapolis Intimidators, 6-2, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Jimmy Koch, who is tied for 5th in the SAL in wins with 6, starred for Delmarva. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The Shorebirds improved their record to 37-17 with the win over Kannapolis.
Delmarva used the hitting of Bernardo Álvarez to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Shorebirds on top, 3-0. For the game, Álvarez had 1 home run and 3 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Koch.
