Led by Curt Thompson, the Savannah Sand Gnats downed the Lexington Legends, 6-3. Thompson went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Sand Gnats. Savannah reliever Gabel Compagne got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Steve Maddox was tagged with the loss. The Sand Gnats bumped their record to 38-19 with this win.

It could have been a different outcome for Savannah, had it not been for Joe Adams, the 22-year old right fielder . Adams contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Savannah up, 1-0.

"This is a very good team," said Thompson. "We have the chance to do something special."
