The Kannapolis Intimidators defeated the West Virginia Power, 6-4. Doing his part was shortstop Charlie Jacobs, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Joe Wood, who is tied for 4th in the SAL in quality starts with 8, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 8 strikeouts. The save went to Steve Murdoch, number 11 for him.
Jacobs contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Kannapolis get the win.
After the game, Kannapolis manager Osamu Hamanaka applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
Kannapolis goes to 33-25, West Virginia to 27-31.
