Curt Zigay, despite pitching a good game, was disappointed in the outcome: a tough, 3-1, defeat for the Greensboro Grasshoppers at the hands of the Delmarva Shorebirds at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Ireno Guerreiro came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. Delmarva leads the Northern Division by 8½ games.
Mario Tamayo, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in home runs with 5, chipped in a 2-run home run for Delmarva in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We're putting some good at-bats together when we need it," said Tamayo.
