The Kannapolis Intimidators rode a solid performance from 23-year-old starting pitcher Aurelio Thompson to a win, beating the Lakewood BlueClaws, 4-1, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Mel Walter picked up the save, his 6th. The second-place Intimidators have won 4 consecutive games.

Kannapolis third baseman Jim O'Loman contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 32nd hit of the season and put the Intimidators ahead, 3-0.

"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager J.R. House. "But it's got to translate into wins."
