Drive Slap 6-3 Loss on West Virginia

The West Virginia Power could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Arturo Acevedo into a win. Instead, the Greenville Drive prevailed, 6-3. Acevedo came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters. Dan Bennett earned the save, his 16th, for the Drive. With this game in the books, Greenville is 28-32, West Virginia 32-28.
It could have been a different outcome for Greenville, had it not been for Jeff Carney, the 23-year old right fielder . Carney contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Greenville up, 2-1.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager German Melendez.
