Hammers Send Lexington Home with 4-1 Loss
|
Rome Hammers starter Jesús Martínez hurled his team past the Lexington Legends, 4-1. Martínez, now 5-6, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Lou Riley earned the save for Rome.
Left Fielder José García made an impact for Rome, when he swatted a run-scoring triple off Chris Tyler in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, García was 2 for 4 with a triple and a double.
Rome manager Aaron Holbert praised his team's "energy."
With the win, the Hammers hiked their record to 36-24.
