The Hickory Crawdads handed the Lakewood BlueClaws a 5-4 defeat at L.P. Frans Stadium. Left Fielder Joe Holland starred for Hickory. He was 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Hickory is now 32-29, while Lakewood is 27-34.

Holland contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Hickory in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-0, Holland took a changeup from Garry Gilbert and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Crawdads to leap in front, 4-3.

Hickory manager Joakim Soria commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
