The Hagerstown Suns got a rain-soaked win over the Kannapolis Intimidators.

The Hagerstown Suns beat the Kannapolis Intimidators, 12-1, at Municipal Stadium. Starting pitcher Jim Richmond was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Richmond, the winner, moves to 2-4. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks.

Ted Wood had a big 2-run double for the Suns in the bottom of the second inning. With Hagerstown leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Freddy Martínez and swatted a double to left. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Suns ahead, 3-0.

"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Richmond.

The triumph makes Hagerstown 16-45.
