4-2 Loss to Crawdads Extends Lakewood Losing Streak
|
The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Lakewood BlueClaws by the score of 4-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop Pete White. White was 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Crawdads on the day. Dave Rankin earned the win. Bob Williams took the loss for Lakewood. Lakewood is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 9 games.
Joe Howgill, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in innings pitched with 85.1, took Lakewood hurler Bob Williams deep in the bottom of the third. His 2-run home run put the Crawdads on top, 3-2. In all, Howgill had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We gave it the old college try," said Lakewood manager J.R. House. "But the old college try wasn't good enough."
