Greenville Earn 7-5 Victory at Grayson Stadium
The Greenville Drive defeated the Savannah Sand Gnats, 7-5, at Grayson Stadium. Leading the charge for Greenville was center fielder Carlos Parkinson. He went 4-5 with a triple and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times. Jim Jones picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-7. He struck out 9 in 8.2 innings. Keizo Murakami earned the save for Greenville, his 22nd.

José Puente had a big 2-run home run for the Drive in the top of the second inning. With Greenville leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from Josh Brandt, who is tied for 5th in the SAL with a 11.2 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Drive on top, 3-0.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Puente.

The victory gives Greenville a record of 37-25.
