The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Lakewood BlueClaws, 8-1. Third Baseman Pete White deserved a large share of the credit. White went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Crawdads. José Pérez picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-4 on the season. He struck out 4 and walked 3 in 5.1 innings, while yielding 1 run. The BlueClaws, now 27-36, have lost 10 straight.

With Hickory leading 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, White hit a sinker from Mike Savage for a solo home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Crawdads ahead, 3-1.

Lakewood manager J.R. House, after yet another defeat, said, "It looked like we never got off the bus, the way we played."
