The Hagerstown Suns topped the West Virginia Power, 7-3, in South Atlantic League action at Municipal Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Hagerstown pitcher and Joplin, Missouri, native Buddy Craig. Craig yielded 2 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 6-6. The Suns now have a record of 13-52.

José Macías had a big grand slam home run for the Suns in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Hagerstown leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Jerry Wilhelm and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Suns on top, 6-1.

Macías said his team "executed a good game plan."
