The Kannapolis Intimidators beat the West Virginia Power, 10-7, at Appalachian Power Park. Sammy Simmons, who is tied for 2nd in the SAL in hits with 75, starred for Kannapolis. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The defeat makes West Virginia 30-35.

Kannapolis third baseman Waylon Scharf contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 64th hit of the season and put the Intimidators ahead, 3-0.

"We came out aggressive," said Intimidators manager Osamu Hamanaka. "We came out swinging the bats."
