GreenJackets Rally For Late Win Over Hammers
The Rome Hammers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Curt Brown into a win. Instead, the Augusta GreenJackets prevailed, 5-3. Brown came in in relief and pitched to 24 batters. By defeating Rome, the last-place GreenJackets improved to 27-39.

Augusta got a knockout punch from Jon West. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"This game had its share of tense moments," West said, postgame.
