Shorebirds Need Extra Innings to Top Crawdads, 5-3
The Hickory Crawdads got a sterling performance from pitcher Dave Rankin, but the Delmarva Shorebirds still prevailed, 5-3. Rankin threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Delmarva reliever Robinson García picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Josh Hughes was saddled with the loss. The Shorebirds lead the Northern Division by 9½ games.

António Guzmán helped out the Delmarva cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the pinch hitter was 1 for 1.

"Winning never gets dull," said Guzmán.
