Asheville pitcher Milo Sykes had a large part in his team beating the Rome Firebirds, 4-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The win hiked the Asheville record to 37-29.

Sykes earned the win, going 7.2 strong innings for Asheville. The right-hander allowed just 1 hit, while striking out 8. Rome hitters had little success against him.

"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Jeff Bianchi.
