The inspired effort of Savannah center fielder Kijuro Yamaguchi was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the Kannapolis Intimidators. Yamaguchi went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2. Wally Clarke earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 2-0. The win gives Kannapolis a season record of 39-29.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Kannapolis shortstop Jeff Picot, facing José Jiménez, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Intimidators the 6-5 win.

"We earned that one," said Picot.
