Sand Gnats Pull Off Thrilling 4-2 Win in Extras
The Savannah Sand Gnats dealt the Greenville Drive a 4-2 loss at Fluor Field at the West End. Tony Funkhouser, who is tied for 4th in the SAL in home runs with 10, was the star on offense. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Picking up his 17th save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Hall. With the win, Savannah pushed its record to 38-30.

Funkhouser had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-2 changeup from Keizo Murakami, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Sand Gnats a 4-2 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Funkhouser.

Said losing manager Jason Wood: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
