The Hickory Crawdads pinned a convincing loss on the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 9-3, at NewBridge Bank Park. Joe Howgill was a main factor in the win. He threw 9.0 innings allowing 3 runs for Hickory. Howgill, who is tied for 4th in the SAL in complete games with 1, went the distance for Hickory. He gave up 3 runs on 9 hits. The Crawdads now have a record of 36-34 with the win over Greensboro.

Orlando López had a big 2-run double for the Crawdads in the top of the fifth inning. With Hickory leading 5-3 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Steve Saunders and swatted a double to center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Crawdads ahead, 7-3.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said López.
