The West Virginia Power wanted a good start from Joe Wolfe -- and he delivered one. The result was a 3-1 West Virginia win over the Rome Firebirds at State Mutual Stadium. West Virginia is now 34-39, Rome 46-27.

West Virginia used a well-timed hit by Jeff Hutchinson to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Power ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

Wolfe called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
