The inspired effort of Hagerstown right fielder Bob Cote was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-4, to the West Virginia Power. Cote went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. West Virginia reliever Jerry Walker picked up the win. Jesús Valdéz took the loss for Hagerstown. Jeremiah Wheeler recorded the save for West Virginia, his 15th of the season.
José Hernández chipped in for West Virginia, stroking a crucial 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-1 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"Feels good to get the job done," Hernández said after the game.
The last-place Suns have lost 4 consecutive games.
