Tourists Post 4-1 Win Over Savannah
Spirited fans greeted the Savannah Sand Gnats for their clash with the Asheville Tourists.

The Savannah Sand Gnats went down to defeat to Mike Piper and his Asheville teammates. The final score was 4-1, in favor of the Tourists. Piper got the win, improving to 3-6. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run.

Asheville used the hitting of Jeff Murdoch to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tourists on top, 3-0. For the game, Murdoch had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
