The Lakewood BlueClaws topped the West Virginia Power, 9-6, at Appalachian Power Park. Lakewood third baseman Ed Wheeler was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 3 times. Mike Savage was the winner. He's now 5-3. The loser was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Samuels. The setback makes West Virginia 42-41.

Lakewood used a clutch at-bat from Dave Glenn to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the BlueClaws ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It's nice to see a lot of guys make contributions," said BlueClaws manager Shawn Kelley.
