Shorebirds Show Nerve in Tight 4-3 Win
|
Delmarva pitcher Aurelio Gobbi had a large part in his team beating the Hickory Crawdads, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Delmarva reliever Tim Davis picked up the win, while José Pérez took the loss for Hickory. The Shorebirds bumped their record to 50-49 with this latest triumph.
Delmarva got a clutch hit from Reginald Ross. The left fielder launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Ross said in his postgame press conference.
