The Kannapolis Intimidators got a sterling performance from catcher Ben Dotson, but the Lakewood BlueClaws still prevailed, 4-3. Dotson hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Lakewood is 49-54 and Kannapolis, with the loss, 58-45.

The decisive blow was delivered by Doug Bart in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Joe Cook to win the game for Lakewood. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Bart said.
