Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the West Virginia Power and the Rome Hammers. West Virginia won it, 2-1. West Virginia starter Darryl Jones was in command. West Virginia now has a record of 55-49 with the win.

West Virginia got a clutch hit from José Jiménez. The right fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
