The Charleston RiverDogs picked up a win at Municipal Stadium, knocking off the Hagerstown Suns, 5-3. Starting pitcher Juan Montalvo was a big reason why. Charleston reliever Dana Miller picked up the win. Jesús Valdéz, who is tied for 7th in the SAL in saves with 17, took the loss for Hagerstown. Oscar Cameron was credited with the save, his 14th in 17 tries.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Rod González came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Hagerstown pitcher Jesús Valdéz, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Charleston on top, 5-3.

Said losing manager Lonnie Chisenhall: "The only way to escape your past is to be better than your past."

With the win, Charleston has a record of 31-75. Hagerstown falls to 44-62.
