Wet weather did not postpone the Hickory-Lexington ballgame.

Getting a good performance from second baseman Steve Day, the Hickory Crawdads defeated the Lexington Legends, 12-10. Day went 3-5 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Crawdads. Joe Howgill, the winning pitcher, improved to 10-6. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1.

Hickory used the hitting of Joe Holland to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Crawdads on top, 4-0. For the game, Holland had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"If you were looking for a pitchers' duel," said Holland, "this wasn't it."

The Crawdads bumped their record to 55-53 with this win.
