Tourists Handle Greensboro, Snag 6-2 Win
The Asheville Tourists topped the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 6-2, in South Atlantic League action at McCormick Field. The standout performance belonged to Asheville pitcher and Brooklyn, New York, native Chris Lair. Lair, the winner, moves to 5-3. He threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Jim Wood was credited with the save, his 4th in 4 tries.

Asheville shortstop Ken Davis contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 5th hit of the season and put the Tourists ahead, 3-0.

"Chris had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Asheville manager Dave Turgeon.

The Tourists improved their record to 56-52 with the win over Greensboro.
