The Greensboro Grasshoppers had to overcome a fine effort from Delmarva pitcher Alfredo González to win, 3-1, at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. González went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jorge González in relief. His record improves to 1-10. Dominic McConnell took the loss. Jody Watkins earned his 21st save in 27 chances.

Daniel Yan delivered a big hit for Greensboro. The designated hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Grasshoppers ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Yan, "and then get after the next one."

Greensboro is 54-59 and Delmarva, with the loss, 77-36.
