Shorebirds Score Late to Beat BlueClaws, 4-3
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Delmarva Shorebirds got the win.
Delmarva shortstop Chuck Ward contributed significantly to his team's 4-3 win over the Lakewood BlueClaws. Ward, who is tied for 2nd in the SAL in hits with 130, went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Shorebirds. Delmarva reliever Freddy Durán snagged the win, upping his record to 5-0. Noah Brousse shouldered the loss.
Delmarva took a 4-3 lead on Manolo Rosales's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Rosales hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Lakewood pitcher Noah Brousse visibly frustrated.
Delmarva manager Tripp Keister called it "a pretty good win."
The win elevated the Shorebirds to 79-37.
